The Banqueting House is the new venue for the Gala Dinner. The only part of the Palace of Whitehall to survive destruction by fire in 1698 it can date its origins to 1530. An architectural masterpiece of its day it has a magnificent Rubens ceiling, one of the finest Baroque ceilings in the country. Its association with the beheading of Charles 1 is a more tragic part of its history.
